Jesus and Politics?

Jesus' famous prayer looks toward his Heavenly Father and says, "Your Kingdom come."  Many Christians say this prayer every week, and yet very few seem to have spent much time pondering the political implications of our Lord's Prayer. How would the Roman Empire heard Jesus' prayer?  Would it have threatened the powers which had established a fragile equilibrium with the Roman Occupiers? Did Jesus' teaching have an impact on First Century politics?  If so, should this aspect of Jesus' teaching impact the way that Christians interact with politics in theTwenty-First Century?
