Achy Breakies pull away in turbulent weekLeague Standings The end of the second week of league play has seen the Achy Breakies surge to the top of the standings. Their top record of 7 and 1 is nearly paralleled in their total pins - where they are second (2107) only to the The Untouchables (2140). The Untouchables have not been able to translate into wins on the standing board. "I don't understand it," said team member Peg S. "Our handicap is killing us!" In other action the Huesken Hustlers bounced back from a week one forfeit to raise their record to 3 and 5 while the Ballin B's were unable to parlay the return of team regular, Bob B., into momentum over the Blue Claws. They scratched out just one win as they fell to eigth place overall. The Blue Claws, have appeared to find their stride - rising to 5 and 3 for the season, taking second place over The Helpersons with total pins factored into the standings. Mel2 had a difficult entry into the league by going 1 and 3 against The Helpersons. League NotesThe Dead End Gang had a bye this week, and are rumored to be undertaking a rigourous training program in an attempt to raise their team average. Other bowlers have been sighted at league various lanes around the league on off days. The league office could not be contacted regarding the amount of extra practice time being put in by various teams. |

Chuck working hard at the League Office After holding a Wii™ Bowling tournament, the Central Baptist Community was convinced of one thing, they had fallen in love with Wii™ Bowling. Since January, the count of families with the elusive gaming console had gone up to eight - many who sought out the system credited the bowling tournament for capturing their interest. As more and more families began to master Wii™ Bowling people began clamoring for a second tournament to be hosted at the Church. This is when several members of the Central Baptist Community came up with an audacious idea. Why not have a full-blown Summer bowling league? And so, with the time until the Summer doldrums which hit Church fast approaching, the work began to lay the groundwork for Central’s first-ever Wii™ Bowling League. As the work progressed, the job of Commissioner was taken up by Chuck Horning who, when asked about the difficultly of keeping track of the statistics and handicaps for the league, grinned and showed off the fruits of his hard work. “This is numbers, this is me,” he said with a grin. After several weeks of sign-ups, nine teams had been organized for the leagues inaugural season - perfect for given each team a bye and managing to get the league concluded before Labor Day Weekend. The eclectic cast is made up of every age group in the Church, with names like The Dead End Gang, and Mel2. Those who weren’t able to sign up for the league are encouraged to come to the lanes an cheer on the bowlers. Thanks to the hard work of the league commissioner, and the volunteer efforts of those hosting lanes, the league got underway on Monday, June 23 - when The Untouchables split with the Ballin B’s. Pastor Allen couldn’t be more happy that the league is up and running, “When a lot of Churches are winding down for the Summer, we’re doing something that brings us into each other’s home and keeps us connected. Of course, there’s a prayer that we wrote for the opening of each match - even when we’re just getting together and bowl, it’s still really about Jesus.” Keep watching the Central Baptist web-site for standings and individual statistics as the summer league unfolds!
