This is Central Baptist's third summer enjoying out-door worship during the summer months. It's been a great success and when Spring rolls around our neighbors keep asking me, "When are you going to be worshiping outside again, we love it!" It takes a lot of work to set up each week, but we have a dedicated group of people who undertake this ministry on behalf of others.
We start with nothing more than the frames for the canopies. It's amazing that these skelatons could be used to provide a portably sanctuary, but they work wonderfully!
Putting the actual covers on the frames is the next step. They have to be put on correctly or the straps which hold them on aren't able to be latched (as we've found out from time to time).
With our covers put on, we have to add the legs to the Canopies. One person for each leg, first one side, then the other. And repeat...
The seating areas aren't the only things which need to be set up. Here you see the speakers for our portable sound system, as well as the podium for readers. On weeks where we celebrate communion, a portable communion table is also set up.
Here is the finished seating area. We set the chairs back a bit so people end up sitting in the shade.
I call these bleachers, but they aren't really. This area is wonderfully shaded by the time worship begins, and some people use the extra space to bring their own chairs. |
