I'm Back!

Getting to photography Comet Neowise was a vacation highlight!

With the immanent arrival of August, my “time away” has come to an end and I’m back to my full-time pastoral responsibilities. It was an unusual vacation, both because of its duration and our current circumstances. Still, it was good to shut down for a bit and concentrate on enjoying time with family and getting out to do some photography.

I wanted to extend my gratitude to Pastor Ronnie, as well as Rebeca, for taking up preaching duties throughout July. They did a fantastic Job, and Rebeca knocked her translations out of the park! Worship leading responsibilities were picked up by Karen, as well as everyone who volunteered to participate, and for that I am grateful. Pedro learned how to use our streaming camera on the fly, and made sure the folks at home were able to remain connected to the community. I also must point out the exceptional job Council did checking in with some more “at risk” community members to make sure people continued to be cared for. Even when new pastoral issues arose, they made sure folks knew they were not on their own. Without their combined diligence, there is not way this time off would have ever been able to happen. Thank you so much.

Over the break I was able to spend some time pondering Central’s next steps through the pandemic, and I’ll be working with Council to work out what our path may look like. These are difficult days. But I am certain we’ll not only emerge in as healthy a place we can hope for, we’ll also look back at the mission we have done together with appropriate pride.

Thank you everyone for making the Central Baptist community what it is. God is still moving, and we’re still open!
