Call to Worship - Psalm 119:1-8

Hymn of Praise: #56 “To God Be the Glory”

Verse 1

To God be the glory great things He has done
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin
And opened the life gate that all may go in

Chorus

Praise the Lord praise the Lord
Let the earth hear His voice
Praise the Lord praise the Lord
Let the people rejoice
O come to the Father through Jesus the Son
And give Him the glory great things He has done

Verse 2

O perfect redemption the purchase of blood
To every believer the promise of God
The vilest offender who truly believes
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives

Verse 3

Great things He has taught us
Great things He has done
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son
But purer and higher and greater will be
Our wonder our transport when Jesus we see

Hymn of Invitation: #408 “How Firm a Foundation”

Verse 1

How firm a foundation
Ye saints of the Lord
Is laid for your faith
In His excellent Word
What more can He say
Than to you He hath said
To you who for refuge
To Jesus have fled

Verse 2

Fear not I am with thee
O be not dismayed
For I am thy God
And will still give thee aid
I'll strengthen thee
Help thee and cause thee to stand
Upheld by My righteous omnipotent hand

Verse 3

When through fiery trials
Thy pathway shall lie My grace
All sufficient shall be thy supply
The flame shall not hurt thee
I only design thy dross to consume
And thy gold to refine

Verse 4

The soul that
On Jesus hath leaned for repose
I will not I will not desert to his foes
That soul though all hell
Should endeavor to shake
I'll never no never no never forsake
I'll never no never
I'll never no never
Never forsake

Benediction

February Benevolence - World Vision

PULLING UP THE ROOTS OF POVERTY AND PLANTING THE SEEDS OF CHANGE.

On February 6th a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and northwest Syria. The devastation has been beyond imagining. Worldvision’s site summed up the crisis on their website this way.

The death toll has surpassed 18,400 and continues to rise by the hour. Thousands more are injured across a region already ravaged by the nearly 12-year Syria conflict and refugee crisis.  In Turkey, the damage was widespread and catastrophic following the predawn quake and its aftershocks, including one nearly as strong as the first.

As Worldvision is our monthly offering for February, we are encouraging the Central Baptist community to give generously to their relief efforts. They are a ray of hope for people suffering in this crisis, and in many others all around the world.

New Sunday School Class/Bible Study

Starting on the first Sunday of Lent, Feb. 26th at 10:30, in person, we will be starting a new Bible Study/Discussion to look at God’s revelation of who He is through his various names. This 13 week study of the Old Testament names of God begins with the first name in which God makes Himself know, Elohim. The other names are studied in order as God progressively reveals Himself through His names. It will be a wonderful journey of learning who God really is. If you are interested, please email the church office @ office@centralbaptistpalmyra.org so we can get a count and also order you a book. Please specify if you would like and English Standard Version book or King James Version. There is no charge for the books.
